Setting Release Form

We offer gemstone setting services for precious stones at our discretion. We set Most semi precious gemstones.

Additionally, there are certain Semi-Precious Gemstones that we do not set due to their delicate nature or hardness level. These include:

Faceted Tanzanite
Faceted Apatite
Faceted Fluorite
Faceted Chrome Diopside
Faceted Sphene
Faceted Opal
Faceted or Cabochon Amber
Faceted Glass
Any stone with a Mohs hardness of 5.5 or below

Stone Measurement Requirements

To ensure a proper fit, all gemstones must be accurately measured using digital calipers before being sent for setting. The measurements should be within ±0.1mm of the stated size and properly proportioned. Rulers or rough estimations are not sufficient, as they may result in stones that do not fit correctly in the mountings. Please note that the size marked on a gem box or bag does not guarantee a proper fit, as cutting variations exist across different suppliers.

Approval Required Before Mailing Stones

Before sending any gemstones for setting, you must obtain our approval. Please contact us at 800-903-GEMS (4367) to discuss your stones and receive confirmation.

Setting Fees

For gemstones not purchased from us, the setting fee is $15.00 per stone, which includes polishing as part of the mounting charge. You can select the setting option from the mountings page, or the fee will be added to your order once we receive your stones.

Return Shipping Policy

If any gemstones you send cannot be set and cannot be returned with an existing order, a shipping and insurance charge will apply for their return. If you prefer to have them shipped back with an existing order, additional insurance may be required based on the value of the items. This insurance cost is not included in our standard shipping charge.

Minimum return shipping charge for unset gemstones: $5.49 (for items valued up to $100)
Final shipping costs may vary depending on the required insurance coverage.

Note:

The maximum liability is $5,000 when using USPS for return shipments.
